The Sunshine Pattern includes sizes from Pillow (1 block) to large throw.
Let’s talk about curved piecing and construction! It is constructed as a Foundation Paper Pieced Pattern (FPP) with an alternative Applique template for the curved half sun.
I went a little out of the norm. Okay, I think way out of the norm here. I’m not a fan of the layer upon layer of pieces that it takes to create a curve in FPP. I am fully aware that curves are not usually a part of FPP, I just wanted a certain look so bad!
So, I include paper templates for the sun center AND an alternative Appliqué option! Yes, you read that correctly, this sun center has the option to be paper pieced (paper template pieced?) or Appliquéd. You get to choose!
If you’re not an expert at curves, I do include tips on curved piecing.
I also have an Instructional video that you can purchase in addition to the pattern (to keep the pattern cost low), in which I walk you through how to put this block together using either method. I love to give a creative framework for you to make this project come alive!
It is rated as a Intermediate or Adventurous Beginner pattern.
It includes diagrams for piecing placement as well as visual layouts. It also includes diagrams for piecing the different styles and quilt sizes together.
I have included basic FPP instructions, curved piecing tips, as well as turned edge appliqué instructions and tips.
I also have recorded an Instructional video, found in my shop, that can be purchased for $15, that walks you through how to piece 2 blocks, one with complete FPP as well as curved piecing, and the second with the appliqué alternative.
This pattern is currently only available in PDF Format.
